 The Classic Car Pre-Purchase Inspection Process: How It Works

When your ready you'll need to gather a few pieces of information to complete your purchase:

  • Your contact information (name, phone number, e-mail address)
  • Basic vehicle information (year, make, model, where it's located)
  • Vehicle seller information (name, phone number, e-mail address)

We protect you, the buyer, by verifying the existence of the vehicle, the authenticity of the seller, and the location of the vehicle.

  • After we receive your order D-Town contacts the seller to verify the existence of the vehicle, seller authenticity, and the exact location of the vehicle.
  • D-Town then contacts the seller and confirms vehicle representation before scheduling the inspection.

D-Town consultant travels to the vehicle to perform the inspection and test drive.

  • No travel charge within 100 mile radious of the Detroit area. We will also travel to other states or outside of the Detroit area as needed then a .75 per mile and any additional travel expenses will apply.
  • Performs a comprehensive visual inspection
  • Conducts a 3-5 mile test-drive if possible
  • Takes photos of the car

Report is processed and delivered straight to your inbox.

  • D-Town consultants review the inspection report
  • You will receive notification via e-mail when the report is available
  • Print the report for your convenience

​All vehicle appraisal results are kept confidential and will not be disclosed to any third parties without the permission of the client. There are no refunds given if services have already been provided. If an order is cancelled within 24 hours of a confirmed appointment, there is a $75 cancellation fee,  plus any additional expenses which can include time and travel. If an order is cancelled prior to 24 hours of a confirmed appointment, there will be no charge. If any expenses have been incurred, the customer will be responsible for reimbursement of those expenses.
